Wooden Spoon Seagull

Our team of hardy volunteers has been beavering away over the winter months – often in sub-zero temperatures – to complete the five year major overhaul.

The boat was moved to the dry dock at Kirkintilloch where the bottom of the hull was cleaned, scraped and coated in readiness for refloating. Other works at this time included a major overhaul of the generator as well as work on the prop shaft, hydraulics and rudder.

Whilst under cover, the roof was given new coat of grey and the superstructure a fresh coat of our trademark red.

Since moving back to the Falkirk base, floors have been taken up for cleaning below decks and much work has been undertaken to overhaul, re-pipe and rewire the bilge pumps – all dirty work but someone has to do it.
