Wooden Spoon Seagull

Outdoor Learning on a Floating Classroom

UNIQUE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY

Is it Outdoor learning indoors or Indoor learning out doors?

You choose on the Wooden Spoon Seagull, Scotland’s only dedicated canal classroom boat!
Fully heated and with 230 volt power, the boat is equipped with flip up work tables, laptop, sound system and display screens, which create a unique learning environment.

A large three metre sliding roof provides the option of open air study and lessons are only limited by the teacher’s imagination!

Canal cruising enables a wide range of topics to be studied, such as Environmental studies, Wildlife, Local History, Engineering and Practical Mathematics, thus ensuring that many of the learning intentions and outcomes from the Curriculum for Excellence can be successfully delivered.

Operated by qualified boatmasters and staffed by trained and PVG certified crews, the Wooden Spoon can comfortably accommodate a class of pupils and teachers and cruises can be tailored to suit individual requirements on both the Union and Forth and Clyde canals and at little or no cost to schools!

As part of the Seagull Trust Cruises charitable organisation, we are delighted to make this unique facility available to schools with no hire charge required, although small donations to help with our running costs are always greatly appreciated.

To find out more about this exciting facility , please visit our booking page or contact our Booking Manager on 0742 960 2293 who will be delighted to answer any queries and will be happy to work with you, to provide your pupils with an exciting and unique learning experience.
